Dress Code
Students are expected to be in dress code. All students MUST come to class in dress code each week. Any student not in dress code will receive a written warning with specific information detailing their lack of compliance. After 2 warnings within the session, students will be required to sit and watch any time they arrive out of dress code. Please know that our instructors do not want to resort to this. While watching a class is still beneficial to the students, participation is much more beneficial and enjoyable! However, we want to hold OPA Dance to the same standard for which our theater department has come to be known. We feel this is one way to help indicate to students, parents, and passersby the level of commitment and standard of technique that is offered at OPA Dance. Also check out www.discountdance.com for teacher recommendations (Teacher ID = TP31848) or Footsteps in North Olmsted!
Attendance
Students are expected to arrive to class early so they have time to get dressed, remove outerwear, fix their hair, and begin warming up. If a student misses a class, you may speak to their instructor or email michelle@olmstedperformingarts.com to find a suitable makeup class. Please remember that attendance and consistency is a key part of your dance education.
Payments
Payments are due at the first class of each month. A $10 late fee will be assessed on all late payments. Early payments are acceptable as well as full payment for the session. Payments can be made online, at class, or can be mailed to OPA at PO Box 38265, Olmsted Falls, OH 44138. If you wish to pay online for multiple months at the same time, simply change the quantity in your PayPal basket to the number of months you want to pay.
Performance Opportunities
OPA Dance Academy holds a Dance Social in December and a Spring Showcase in the spring of even years. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Dance Social and Spring Dance Showcase as this is part of their dance and performing arts education. They are not mandatory, however, and we ask that you communicate with your instructor if you do not plan to participate. Any student who falls behind on choreography for the dance social or spring dance showcase due to attendance may, at the discretion of their instructor, be removed from participation in the performance for that class. Students in Ballet 1 and above are welcome to audition for the Dance Company. Audition information can be found on our website and will be in newsletters and posted outside the studios.
Communication
Information will be posted outside both studios. E-newsletters are sent out at the beginning of each month. A copy of the newsletter can be found on the website and the dance page of the website is another great resource. Other information may be sent home with students throughout the semester.
Private Dance Instruction
Private dance instruction is not recommended but may be available on a case-by-case basis as determined by the dance administrator. The cost is $25 for 30 minutes. Please contact michelle@olmstedperformingarts.com if you are interested and include specific information about the
purpose for the private instruction (i.e. to prepare for an audition, a specific skill that a student needs to improve, additional help with choreography, physical injury, etc.)
