The highlight of the year for our Disney dancers is an annual trip to Disney World to perform a show at Downtown Disney’s Waterside Stage outdoor theater in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
In October of 2013, OPA sent 37 dancers, ages 6 to 21, to perform.
“I am so in love with Disney and wanted everyone to experience it the way they should. We were able to design a trip that allows them to not only enjoy Disney World, but also enjoy but the camaraderie within the team.”Angela Boehm, Olmsted Performing Arts, Artistic Director

About the Choreographers
JANET STRUKELY-DZIAK (Mickey Company) has been dancing professionally for 12 years and has over 11 years of teaching and choreography experience across the Midwest. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Mercyhurst University with a B.A. in Dance, she joined the Saint Louis Ballet under the direction of Gen Horiuchi where she sustained a professional performing career in the rank of First Artist. She has also danced with Lake Erie Ballet in Erie, PA, Ballet Concerto in Fort Worth TX, and Ohio Dance Theater in Oberlin, OH. Her performing career highlights include The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy), Cinderella (Cinderella), and Balanchine’s Serenade (Waltz Girl). As a teacher, Strukely brings a strong sense of technique, anatomical knowledge, and artistic presence to the classroom. She is trained and certified in Jacques D’Amboise’s National Dance Institute, holds a teaching license in dance through the Ohio Department of Education and has taught master classes and workshops for both students and teachers throughout the region. Choreographic highlights include Olmsted Performing Arts’ first full-length ballet, The Nutcracker in 2012, as well as OPA main stage musical theater productions and dance company tours. She is thrilled to be able to direct and choreograph this year’s The Nutcracker and is looking forward to adding more full-length ballets to OPA’s upcoming seasons, including Sleeping Beauty, Summer 2015.
“I am so excited to choreograph for dance company again! This is such a great experience for the kids: training, learning important performing and improvisation skills, building self-esteem, and friendships that carry beyond the dance studio and the trip. My family is looking forward joining me in supporting the dancers at parades, festivals, and Walt Disney World!”Janet Strukely-Dziak, Olmsted Performing Arts, Choreographer
MEGAN HYDE (Minnie Company) has a passion for the stage! Megan teaches the younger children in classes such as My First Dance Class and Pre-Ballet. She also is a certified Zumba teacher and teaches all the Zumba classes offered at OPA. Along with dance, Megan is also the Youth Stage Director and Choreographer. Shows she has directed and choreographed include The Aristocats Kids (2009 Choreography), Into the Woods Jr. (2010, Direction/Choreography), Mulan Jr. (2010, Choreography), Sleeping Beauty Kids (2011, Direction/Choreography), and The Jungle Book Kids (2012, Direction/Choreography). Megan also loves to perform and has been in many OPA shows including High School Musical 2 (Sharpay Evans), Beauty and the Beast (Babette), and White Christmas (Judy Haynes).
“I am so excited to be working with the Disney Dance Company again! This is my favorite dance company because we get to do really cool things like secret sib, share things we learn about Disney World and of course count down the days until we go. There is definitely something unique about this dance team in that it’s more than just a team of dancers, but a team of friends who happen to get to perform at the most magical place on earth!”Megan Hyde, Olmsted Performing Arts, Choreographer
